Don’t get me wrong. The title of this blog is actually the title of the movie I just watched earlier. Haha.
But really, this question has got to be answered at some point in your life. So what would be your answer?
As for me, I’ve been in two long-term relationships ever since I learned how to love. Wow. Haha. The first one lasted for four years, and the current one is going seven. Here are three answers to the question, “how to be single?”
- Go somewhere. Remember that trip that you and your friends have been planning, but you always can’t commit because you need to babysit your boyfriend? Now that you’re single, then there’s no excuse to not go! It doesn’t have to be far or well-planned; all you need to do is to move your ass and go.
- Learn something. Now that you’ve got so much time in your hands, take the opportunity to join a class or learn a new skill. You can take online courses, or even enroll yourself in a workshop that you find interesting. Try out a self-defense class, or finally avail that gym gift certificate. You will not only learn something new, you can also meet new people who have the same interests as you.
- Meet someone. It doesn’t have to be a date, but use the time that you have to catch up with your friends. Aside from having someone who will listen to your stories, you’ll get free counseling aka solicited advice from people who know you. Also, this someone could be Someone. Focus on God, trust His plans, pray for love, and everything will be okay.
It won’t be easy, it won’t be always fun. It all depends on your perspective. If you think being single is sad, then you’ll be sad. But if you think that being single means being free again, then you’ll be free.
Just know that being single doesn’t mean that you are alone. It just means that you are brave enough to love yourself first before you give love to others.
Do you have anything to add?
